St. Isaac's Cathedral — €15
St. Isaac’s Cathedral is still the largest cathedral in the city, able to accommodate about 10 thousands people and was the largest church in Russia when it was built (101.5 meters high). It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great.
The church itself is an architectural marvel. Built by the French-born architect Auguste Montferrand to be the main church of the Russian Empire, the St. Isaac's Cathedral was under construction for 40 years (1818-1858), and was decorated in the most elaborate way possible.
The observation platform on the colonnade provides a magnificent view of the city.
Open: 11:00 – 18:00. Closed on Wednesday.
